#20 AHS Fat Tire Amber Ale (New Belgium) (10B)

New Belgium Fat Tire bottles arranged like bowling pins
Named in honor of New Belgium's co-founder's bike trip through Europe, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer's home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Together with co-founder, Kim Jordan, they traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire won fans with its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

#14/54 AHS Dos Equis Amber Lager (3A)

Dos Equis is a lager that was originally brewed by the German-born Mexican brewer Wilhelm Hasse in 1897. The brand was named Siglo XX ("20th century") to commemorate the arrival of the new century, and the bottles were marked with the Roman numeral for 20 ("XX"), thus "Dos Equis" which is Spanish for "two X."

#13 Northern Brewer - Dry Dock Paragon Apricot Blonde (#13/56/105)

Dry Dock Brewing Co. logo

Blonde ale: pale, refreshing, balanced. Already a crowd-pleaser, but add in apricot and you’ve got one of Dry Dock Brewing Co.’s most popular beers. A very light, slightly sweet malt body is the foundation, accompanied by minimal hopping and classic American yeast. The secret here is using real apricot puree, which contributes fresh apricot flavor, additional body and a bit of fruity tartness. Some apricot extract added at bottling supports the flavor and extends it. The perfect end to a summer evening, or an excellent pair for a light almond pastry.

Dry Dock Brewing Company of Aurora CO is one of the hottest up and coming breweries in the US. In the 6 years that it has been open, it has racked up more than a dozen World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival medals, including Small Brewing Company of the Year. But to try one of their amazing brews you’d have to live in the tiny section of Colorado they cater to. Good thing for the rest of us Dry Dock has worked closely with Northern Brewer to develop these Pro-Series beer kits.  Northern Brewer sourced the same ingredients and kept all the recipe particulars the same, just scaled down to homebrew size.

#09 Jay's - Blue Moon Clone

Blue Moon Belgium WhiteCheck out Jay's Brewing in Manassas

This is a clone similar to Blue Moon Wheat Belgian Style Wheat Ale.  The beer is orange-amber in color with a cloudy appearance because it is unfiltered. Blue Moon has a more pronounced orange flavor than many other beers of the style, and also has a slightly sweet flavor. The grain bill for Blue Moon includes malted barley, white wheat, and oats.

BJCP Style 16A
ABV 5.38
OG 1.051
Calories 144
SRM 4.4
Grains
1 lb Wheat Muntons DME
4 lb Extra Light Muntons DME
12 oz White Wheat Malt
8 oz Oats Flaked
Hops-Bittering .25 oz Hallertau
Hops-Flavor .25 oz Hallertau and .5 oz Coriander
Yeast WLP400 Belgian Wit

Some weiss and hefeweizen beers are commonly served with a slice of lemon in North America.[citation needed] Blue Moon is traditionally served with a slice of orange, which its brew masters claim accentuates the flavor of the brew. Keith Villa admitted the orange slice garnish was mostly for attention-getting when Blue Moon is served in a bar.

#08/27/59/65/94 Austin - Samuel Adams Summer Ale (6D)

Samual Adams Summer Ale
Great beer to start the summer.

Crisp and tangy with refreshing lemon peel and a hint of pepper from rare Grains of Paradise.  Golden, hazy, & thirst quenching, this American wheat ale balances bright citrus, Noble hops & spice for a lively brew that’s perfect on any summer day.

Fermentation was at room temperature.  Looking forward to doing the next one as a Lager.

This has been a staple.  I make sure that I keep this on tap year round as it remains an easy drinking brew.  The room temperature fermentation tasted good, but all of my future brews were lagered.

#05 Brewers Best - Irish Stout

Well not everything goes as planned.  The brewing was fine, but the keg still had the taste of root beer.  You win some, you lose some.  I was really looking forward to this one and was hoping that the root beer taste would go away.  This keg was tossed.
